Travelling to LA:

The main airport in Los Angeles is Los Angeles International Airport.

For getting to and from LAX we recommend:

🚗 Uber and Lyft are the best methods of getting to USC from LAX. Standard cars will cost $40-55, while large cars will cost $50-65. The journey will take you about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic.
- To pick up your rideshare at the airport, be sure to follow signs for the LAXit Rideshare pickup area BEFORE calling your ride.
🚍 The LA Metro bus system is the cheapest, but takes a long time. The 101 route will take you directly to USC, but will take over an hour.

🚎 The LAX Flyway Shuttle goes directly to Downtown LA. This is useful if your hotel is downtown, but not as useful if you are planning to arrive immediately at USC.
🚘 Car rentals are available at LAX, and are useful if you wish to stay beyond the conference weekend and explore Los Angeles. We recommend reserving car rentals with your flight purchase. Shuttle busses will take you from your terminal to car rental locations, but you may experience wait times at the location.
- Enterprise is one of many car rental services at LAX, and we have had positive experiences there in the past.

Travelling around LA:

🚊 The LA Metro has a fare of $1.75, which can be paid via exact change in coins, TAP card, or TAP phone app
- A fare payments includes one free transfer.
- Physical cards can be purchased at Metro train stops, and refilled online. Purchasing a physical card includes a one-time $2 card fee.
- The most convenient method is the TAP app, which can be downloaded here. This allows digital wallets to be used to pay via tap.

We recommend using the LA Metro trains whenever possible, and the buses for short trips only. Multiple transfers via bus can be easily interrupted by delays, and take far longer than planned.
